The USB Socket neatly folds into itself so it transports better. All the ports work, its been over a year and I have no complaints. I still love it.
(Luckily I bought mine before this crazy price was borne). I love to get my hands and toes on the silver metallic (I hope it's metallic) but can't seem to find one anywhere. It works for both Macs and PCs. The metallic colored ones are the best, the prettiest and the coolest. It is relaxing--really.
I work late at times, most of the time, and the color changing light is my quiet companion in the dark. NOTE: This item is circular shape; you want to be mindful to place the more permanent plug-in devices such as printers, cd/dvd drivers, fax machines, etc., in the rear facing portion of the hub and save the front-side ports for temporary plug-in items like a mini usb driver so you can conveniently connect and disconnect your device. Buy it, buy it--wait, except the silver metallic, I have first claim on that one. It glows so pretty you would want to keep it where is it always visible. The product is very good in any color, but it is perfect in metallic. The fade-in-and-out-multicolor light comes on once your computer is turned on and it goes off when the computer is shut down >> it will still glow in hibernation mode. This product was excellently designed with solid quality and very reasonable pricing (though I saw the metallic blue going for.WHAT.$35.00.
I have mine for three+ years and they work agelessly fine. The colors transition into the next like sunset, very smooth, very subtly. [No paragraphing in this post to save text space]. You will enjoy it. I have the metallic maroon and metallic blue; each of them look sharp without the glowing lights, then when the light comes on, it is beautiful. They are small, fit in the palms of a petite person's hands. This hub is a simple and easy plug-n-play product, no install, no updates, no disks, no batteries (it shares power with your PC/Mac).
However, I can't tell if it does anything. I would not buy again, because I don't know if it does anything, other than be cute. I bought this in a combo with keyboard and mouse. It did come in good time and new condition, but I feel I wasted money because it does not seem to have sped up my laptop.
It is very useful, I do not need to reach around the back to plug things in and I get more plugs. I am really disappointed because I love the color pink. It works really well. The only problem was I ordered the retro pink and I received and ugly one which was white with flowers.
This is not only your answer but the cool color and lighting make work more tolerable. Do a lot of moving around with your laptop and need more usb hubs and room in your laptop carrier. Recommended.
